Signs Your Gelco Flue Liner Replacement Is Failing

• Smoke or odor spillage on startup. A separated seam or perforated section in your Gelco liner breaks the sealed flue path. Combustion gases take the path of least resistance, which is often back into your living space before the chimney warms and establishes draft.

There is no safe DIY path for flue liner replacement. The work involves working at height on a pitched roof, handling sections of stainless steel with sharp corrugated edges, and properly sizing the liner to the appliance. A liner that is even slightly undersized will overdraw the firebox; one that is loose in the flue can reverse draft in certain wind conditions.
